The Adaptation Network was established in June 2009 as a voluntary association of individuals and organisations from civil society, government, parastatals, academia, and business. The network was created to promote knowledge sharing and partnerships on adaptation to climate change across stakeholder groups. A recognised platform for promoting collective positions for consultation, lobbying and advocacy in climate change adaptation.

The Adaptation Network Secretariat is hosted by Indigo development & change, guided by an annually elected Steering Committee composed of its members.
