Co-creating Climate Resilience in Nelson Mandela Bay

Co-creating Climate Resilience in Nelson Mandela Bay
We’re excited to invite you to a webinar exploring the development of the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro’s Climate Resilience Strategy Framework (CRDSF) and Action Plan.
🗓 Date: Monday, 21 July
🕛 Time: 12:00 – 13:30 (SAST)
💻 Where: On Zoom, register here
This webinar will feature a presentation by the CRDSF team, sharing how they embraced a deeply participatory approach to urban climate resilience planning. Through inclusive events, workshops, community meetings and partnerships across sectors, stakeholders and communities, the strategy was co-created to be rooted in equity, innovation, and actionable hope.
Commissioned by the Presidential Climate Commission (PCC), this work integrates a strong focus on a Just Transition, with particular attention to procedural justice — ensuring stakeholders and communities are meaningfully involved in shaping policy through active, inclusive decision-making.
By breaking down silos and fostering collaboration, the team developed a framework that not only tackles climate risks, but also strengthens social equity and civic pride.
We look forward to sharing this important work with you and discussing the lessons it offers for inclusive, climate-resilient urban planning.
